    Toronto Tips!

    Travelling to big cities can be an amazing experience that some people might take for granted. While most of us enjoy the beach and the sun, a city like Toronto can make for an incredible trip. You also don’t have to worry about airfare. You can find cheap flights to Toronto with Air Transat, and save money while there with the following tips.

    Distillery District

    This area in downtown Toronto will give you the feeling of being in Europe and New York City at the same time. The relaxed and hippy feel combined with the shops, galleries and restaurants give it a unique atmosphere that most will appreciate. It is a pedestrian only zone that allows you to take in some history and culture while shopping and stopping for a bite to eat. Take a stroll and enjoy the marvellous Victorian Industrial Architecture that gives the district its charm. Also, there are usually events happening around there on the weekends.

    Harbourfront Center

    There are usually many free activities and events to see at the Harbourfront center, the heart of Toronto’s waterfront. You can find the daily schedule here, which includes festivals, shows, exhibitions and even dancing on the pier! It is a not-for-profit cultural organization whose aim is to create events and activities that educate and entertain the public. It attracts over 12 million visits each year and presents over 4,000 events annually that are reasonably priced or completely free of charge. You can also just sit back and enjoy the waterfront, shop or dine.

    Play a sport

    If you plan your visit in the summer, there are many sports that you can try out while in the city as a little work-out. From swimming to hiking or playing tennis, there are a number of options that are cheap and fun. And if you’ve never tried on a pair of skates, it could be a great first time for you! There are indoor and outdoor skating rinks all over the city, year-round. In the winter, you can obviously ski and snowboard through the hills as well.

    Museums and Galleries

    Toronto is swarming with art for all the art-lovers. The Bata Shoe museum is definitely a must for all those with a shoe fetish. With over 10,000 shoes, you will find everything from ancient Egyptian sandals to footwear worn by famous individuals including, Marilyn Monroe, John Lennon and many more. Every Thursday between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m., admission is pay-what-you-can. Other museums include The Gardiner Museum, the Toronto Police Museum and Discovery Centre and the Hockey Hall of Fame for all the hockey fans. In terms of galleries, the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art shows works by international artists. The Toronto Free Gallery is another interesting free option.

    No matter when you plan your visit to Toronto, the city will always be vibrant with plenty of options for fun activities that won’t hurt your wallet. It’s a great option for summertime as well as winter, although they offer very diverse events during the different seasons. Why not try something new?
