    New York City- Visiting a $24 Island

    New York is not only a fun and exciting place to visit, all the Burroughs that make it up have their own stories to tell along with all the exciting activities and historical points of interest. Manhattan, the $24 Island, is one such area with interesting beginnings. The story goes that in 1926, the Canarsee or Shinnecock Indians sold Manhattan to Dutchman Peter Minuit for $24. Today he is commemorated through the Peter Minuit Plaza. These days you’ll find and upper and lower Manhattan and together they represent all of the best of New York and New York City and everything that makes it the perfect vacation destination.     Central Park offers a beautiful getaway from New York’s vibrant city life when you feel the need for some tranquility or relaxing outdoor activities. You can enjoy a walk through the park, take a boat ride or have a picnic on the beautifully landscaped lawns.
