Holiday Preparations for the Festival Season

0

Regardless of the time of year the vast USA caters for a huge amount of different ways for a group to get entertained. One of the best ways to learn new things, meet new people, and enjoy your favourite passions is by venturing to a few fun safe festivals.

Few people consider these types of events when setting up a trip.  They’ll often look for shopping trips to New York, rock climbing in Mount Washington, or theme parks in Orlando, then whip up cheap holiday insurance to America, passport ready, and they’re off.  We’ll focus on a portion of the roster of festivals throughout the year in the US, which cater for the widest possible range of musical and entertainment tastes.

New Orleans Mardi Gras

You have the notorious New Orleans festival or as it is much better known, the Mardi Gras of New Orleans.   A fun filled freakishly festive fanfare of parades, costume, music, and self expression.  The Mardi Gras is a kick off to the new year spring, usually held near the end of February.

SWSX & SWSXi

Arguably one of the biggest festivals in the world, the SXSW is a cocktail of the most artistic music and film.  The event has recently had a mark-up to be named the SXSWi, as it now hosts the exciting movements of the interactive world too.  This is an apt slip into the season of spring as this event takes place during March.

Newport Jazz Festival

For a summer trip you can kick it at the Newport Jazz Festival, which starts around the beginning of August.   This amalgamation of the Jazz world has established itself as one of the foremost Jazz authority events, with past greats such as Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, and Miles Davis to name but a few.   If you’re not into the Jazz, Newport also hosts a Folk Festival, a week before at the end of July.

Burning Man Festival

To bring in the autumn, the Burning Man festival rides in to heat up the end of August through to September.  Much less of a music array, and much more of an movement of art, the Burning Man is where loads of us gather from every corner of the world to meet up, share, and express our artistic being.  Expect the unexpected here, as unconventional is the pretty much the order of the day, along with love, peace, and an abundance of joy.

Austin City Limits Music Festival

To round off the year in our list of festivals from the US, Austin does us very proud with a music festival that does exactly what it says on the tin.  Austin City Limits Music Festival has all of the greats in attendance from a diverse range of genres.  The Austin City Limits looks like the US’s homie of Europe’s Glastonbury Festival.  From Cold Play to Kanye West, this awesome array of music is a great way to experience America, during the autumn month of October.

The USA

You can’t fault the U S of A: One of the most famous (and infamous) countries in the world.  From ‘The City That Never Sleeps’ to the ‘Cowboys Country’:  wherever a foreigner travels this country can fill them with aspiration and adventure.

The festivals featured here are a few of the more popular from a wide range of varied types that take place throughout the year.

Literally all different types of people can find a similar group to celebrate with, from the Delmarva Chicken Festival in Maryland to the Detroit Electronic Music Festival in Michigan, or the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery to the Atlanta Film Festival in Georgia, or even the Outfest gay festival in Los Angeles to the Oregon Brewers Festival in Portland: literally anyone can have fun at a an American festival.
