Handy Hints for Choosing Accommodation these Holidays

It is more than likely that over the holidays you will plan a trip away for yourself and your family. One of the most important things to consider when planning a holiday is accommodation.

Vacation rentals

Vacation rentals are exploding in popularity now, and for good reason. With sites like AirBNB, CasaGo and Homeaway, finding a safe, quality rental is easier than ever. Depending on the amount of people you’re traveling with, you can stay in a 5-star accommodation, but save a lot of money. Some rentals can accommodate over 10 people, which means you and all your friends can plan a huge getaway, spend a minimal amount of money on lodging, and have plenty of space to spread out for all of you.

Hotels / Motels

A motel can provide great accommodation too. A motel is best described as a roadside hotel. It is a place for people to spend a few nights while travelling that will provide them with a free car parking area.

Here are some things to keep in mind when choosing a motel:

Consider the cost. Before you even start to look for accommodation you need to think about how much money you are willing to spend. Price will also tend to increase depending on the number of people that will be staying. Once you know the area that you will be travelling to, research around and compare prices. This will give you a good idea of a fair price. Also keep in mind that during the holiday period prices are likely to increase.

Once you have decided that you want to go away the first thing you should do is book your accommodation. It is extremely important that you book in advance. Throughout the busiest times of year for example Christmas and New Years, motels will tend to book up well in advance.

Motels are often found just outside of the city center. If you are travelling to a certain area for sight seeing or to visit friends and family, you want to take into account the distance it will take you  to travel to these places. Location is an important factor to consider as you do not want to spend all of your time travelling from spot to spot. Try to find accommodation that is central to the places you will be visiting.

Great idea is to ask friends and family for recommendations.  If you know someone who has stayed in a vacation rental or a motel and found the services to be of a good quality then you can trust that the same will be provided for you during your stay.  Once you’ve found a accommodation in the right place, for the right price at the right time – it’s time to book.
All the best planning your holiday!
